Johns Hopkins' Center for a Livable Future's Aquaponics Project, Cylburn Arboretum
As part of the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, the mission of the Center for a Livable Future (CLF) is to promote research and to develop and communicate information about the complex interrelationships among diet, food production, environment and human health, to advance an ecological perspective in reducing threats to the health of the public and to promote policies that protect health, the global environment and the ability to sustain life for future generations. The tour will offer a detailed look at the operations of the CLF's Aquaponics Project is an experimental and educational farm that is exploring the sustainability of aquaponics - a combination of aquaculture (fish farming) and hydroponics (soilless plant farming) in which fish waste is used as fertilizer for plants, and plants provide water filtration for the fish - and increasing awareness of this food production system.

Tuesday, March 31, 2015, 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Space on this tour is limited, and registration is required.
