Sustainability at the University of Maryland

Biodiesel University

Biodiesel University is a non-profit, renewable energy education organization focused on educating students, teachers and consumers about renewable energy and environmental stewardship. The program is the first non-profit start-up for the R.H. Smith School of Business Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship, providing a unique opportunity for students to explore the intersection of entrepreneurship and social good.

A central component of Biodiesel University's educational methodology is a fleet of innovative mobile laboratories. These labs are integrated into highly customized buses and are the greenest mobile labs in the world (they are powered by biodiesel and use vegetable-based biodegradable motor oil, hydraulic fluids and greases).
