Did you know that walking is the State of Maryland's official exercise? In honor of walking, I'm writing to send word of Walk Maryland Day at UMD. Walk Maryland Day is part of Walktober. During Walktober, we are encouraged to collectively rally around walking as an activity that is both central to the state’s active transportation efforts and a critical component promoting public wellbeing.
DOTS is hosting two walks - one at 10:00 am and the other at 4:15 pm on October 5. I invite you to visit the Walk Maryland Day website and follow instructions to join one or both of the DOTS walking groups. The walk routes can be viewed here. All members of the UMD community are welcome and there will be small goodies for folks who join a DOTS walking group. There will also be conversation and activity prompts along the way.
If you can't attend either of the DOTS walks but would like to participate in Walk Maryland Day asynchronously, as they say, then you're in luck! Grab a colleague, pal, family member, or furry friend and head out.
Looking forward to ringing in the 2022 Walktober season with you at this or a future Walktober event.
