Office of Sustainability and the LEAF Outreach Team
In 2013, the Office of Sustainability launched its Small Footprint Pledge program. This program encourages students, faculty and staff to take a pledge, and commit to at least one of 12 different sustainable actions for a specified amount of time. One of the actions requires participants to commit to replacing one incandescent light bulb in their residence with a more energy-efficient, compact fluorescent bulb (CFL).
The LEAF Outreach Team, an Office of Sustainability student-led group that conducts educational, sustainability-related activities on campus, distributed 1,000 CFLs and LEDs at pledging events and in residence halls. During the 2014-2015 school year, students who signed the pledge, or turned in an old incandescent bulb received a new energy-efficient bulb. The LEAF Team's distribution focused on residence hall events including the Prince Frederick Hall Energy Challenge.
