DC Climate Week comes to UMD's Campus

Tuesday, April 21st, 9 am - 7 pm, Stamp Student Union (2nd Floor)

Hosted by the Maryland Energy Innovation Institute, Mtech Ventures, and the Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator with support from the University of Maryland Office of Sustainability.

Maryland Day at DC Climate Week is an informatitve indoor event to celebrate climate tech and innovation in Maryland. This event will foster networking and open discussion for entrepreneurs, students, faculty, UMD staff and policy makers. The activities also aims to bring attendees of the second-ever DC Climate Week to the discussions. All who attend will have the opportunity to learn about new climate change technologies and the associated policy and funding landscape in Maryland. The organizers invite students, faculty and staff to join and participate in DC Climate Week without leaving UMD's campus. 

The day's activities will include:

  • Discussion of funding opportunities for climate tech founders
  • Networking with climate tech investors, innovators and policy supporters
  • Lunch with Leaders from Maryland's State Agenices and Legislature
  • Student Showcase from UMD Department of Environmental Science & Technology
  • Innovative approaches to Chesapeake Bay and Ocean resilience

2025 UMD Startup Showcase

This event is an opportunity to meet and chat with entrepreneurs, investors, and policy leaders who are shaping the ecosystem of innovation for climate tech in Maryland.

Climate tech refers to innovative products, services, and technologies that address one or more of the following six objectives for sustainable activities (as defined by the European Union's framework to classify sustainable economic activities):

  • Climate change mitigation
  • Climate change adaptation
  • Pollution prevention and control
  • Transition to a circular economy
  • Protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems
  • Sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources
