Good Neighbor Day Seeking Team Leaders and Environmental Ambassadors

Home SustainableUMD News Good Neighbor Day Seeking Team Leaders and Environmental Ambassadors

The Office of Community Engagement is seeking volunteers to serve as team leaders or environmental ambassadors on Good Neighbor Day, the annual community day of service in College Park to beautify shared spaces and engage in sustainable practices.

The ninth annual Good Neighbor Day will take place on Saturday, April 4. The 2020 event is projecting more than 1,000 volunteers for nearly 25 service projects throughout Greater College Park.

This year, projects will include community cleanups, tree planting at Lake Artemesia, invasive species removal at parks, meal packing with Terps Against Hunger, landscape enhancement at local elementary schools, and more!

Team leaders assist by leading a group of volunteers in completing a service project. Environmental ambassadors contribute their interest in environmental stewardship by informing volunteers and acting as educational liaisons. Interested volunteers can apply by Feb. 28. General volunteer registration opens on Feb. 24. Event information and registration are available at goodneighborday.umd.edu.

Good Neighbor Day is a  partnership between the University of Maryland, the city of College Park and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
