UMD Lab Sheds 50,000 pounds of CO2 Emissions Annually
Research labs at universities consume copious amounts of energy. For instance, a single chemical fume hood in a lab can consume as much energy as three average American homes. Toss in a few lab freezers holding a constant -80 degrees Celsius temperature and energy consumption adds up quickly. Good Neighbor Day Seeking Team Leaders and Environmental Ambassadors
The Office of Community Engagement is seeking volunteers to serve as team leaders or environmental ambassadors on Good Neighbor Day, the annual community day of service in College Park to beautify shared spaces and engage in sustainable practices.
The ninth annual Good Neighbor Day will take place on Saturday, April 4. The 2020 event is projecting more than 1,000 volunteers for nearly 25 service projects throughout Greater College Park.
